FAQ's

1. What to expect from you physiotherapy appointment?

Your initial appointment will consist of a thorough assessment to establish a diagnosis and treatment plan. We always aim to provide hands on treatment in your initial appointment but this can depend on how complex your condition is. Follow up appointments will consist of a brief reassessment and the remaining time will be hands on treatment as well as prescription of appropriate exercises.

2. What treatments do we use?

Steve and Kirsten both use a variety of techniques which include, but are not limited to: massage, Fascial Manipulation (Stecco Method), joint manipulation, dry needling, Graston Technique

3. What should I wear?

Physiotherapists can better help you if we are able to see and feel your joints and muscles. However, feeling comfortable during your assessment is important too! Examples of what to wear in your session: gym shorts, leggings, flexible shorts/trousers, vest tops, crop tops, t-shirts.

4. How long are sessions?

Your initial physiotherapy assessment session will be 40 minutes. Follow up treatment sessions will be 30 minutes.

5. Will I be sore following treatment?

You can expect to feel some mild treatment soreness for up to 48hours after your session. Sometimes you can feel very tired. We recommend you drink plenty of water after your session and take it easy for the rest of the day.

6. Where can I park?

Parking is available outside of the practice along Pacific Street. There is also a public carpark behind the Long Jetty Hotel with easy access to Pacific Street through the arcade.

7. What will it cost?

Payment is required at the time of treatment and HICAPS facilities are available for you to claim a rebate if you have Private Health Insurance. If your treatment is through Medicare then a rebate will be issued to your bank account from Medicare following full payment to Ott Physiotherapy.
